We enjoy trying to make sure that your home stays your most valuable asset.  One of the best ways we know to help, is to pass along some simple maintenance tips that most people don’t know could save thousands of dollars.

Humidifiers

Humidifiers are often used in homes to add moisture to the air. This is to alleviate discomforts such as dry lips, throats or skin. When placing a humidifier in your home, you should not place it directly over the furnace heat exchange. It is better to place the humidifier on the duct work away from the furnace. The evaporation type of humidifier is more effective that the spray type of humidifier because it is easier to maintain.

Remember, all humidifiers need routine maintenance and checking. Often they become the most neglected appliances in the home.

Excess moisture can cause the growth of dust mites, mold and other biological organisms. Be aware that these often produce allergy symptoms.

Use water with with a low mineral content to prevent scale build up or minerals being released into the air. Follow the instructions on cleaning and maintaining the humidifier. Do not allow water to sit in the tank for extended periods of time.

Please feel free to forward this maintenance tip to your friends and/or family members so they too can maintain their real estate investment.
