Home Owner Maintenance Tip
We enjoy trying to make sure that your home stays your most valuable asset. One of the best ways we know to help, is to pass along some simple maintenance tips that most people don’t know could save thousands of dollars. A water hammer is a pressure shock wave that is damaging to plumbing systems. This occurs whenever there is a change in the condition of a non-compressible liquid, usually water. Washing machines, dishwashers and toilets are examples of devices that can have a water hammer within a plumbing system. The only solution to fix a water hammer is to drain a home's water supply and re-pressurized it. However this is often not a complete solution. A combination of correct pipe sizing and water hammer arresters are what is needed in most situations.
