We enjoy trying to make sure that your home stays your most valuable asset.  One of the best ways we know to help, is to pass along some simple maintenance tips that most people don’t know could save thousands of dollars.

Roof Maintenance

A leaky roof is a common challenge for a homeowner. Most all roofs will develop leaks, then a variety of problems may occur. Mold and mildew can grow and cause damage to the home's interior.

Leaks start as a very small crack or crevices in the roof and there may not be sufficient evidence to alert the homeowner because it may not travel through the layers of the ceiling.

It is important to identify and repair any cracks or leaks. It is recommended to have your attic and roof inspected twice a year.

Leaks can be repaired, often with low expense and minimal time. The most common sources of leaks are wall step flashing, missing shingles and valleys or low spots on the roof. Be aware of wet ceiling tiles.

Remember to have the roof inspected after intense storms such as hurricanes, hail or heavy snows. Also, a clogged gutter can cause the roof to spring a leak. Regular maintenance of gutters and downspouts is important.
